| Pawn Shop Records / Music Blog | | | Bodie's debut on PSR is So Good! | | We've been diggin' Bodie's production for a few years now, and couldn't be more happy with his contribution to PSR. Bodie's So Good, is partnered with an exceptional remix from Toronto’s DJ Shine. Bodie has been a champion of Boise, Idaho’s dance music scene for almost two decades, and his everlasting passion for disco and house is alive in So Good. And, if you haven't heard his re-edits of great disco trax, or legit remixes and productions, then you should reach out to him, or scour the underground. You can visit him on Myspace - http://www.myspace.com/bodielee. To many, DJ Shine is known as the Ableton Live programmer for Nelly Furtado, or recording artist for Nice & Smooth, so we’re proud to have him featured on PSR. So Good, the original is an upbeat blend of vintage electro/disco-inspired shuffling house music, lathered in funk and soul. In compliament, there is an instrumental version, for DJ-versatility. Giving this track the big room treatment is DJ Shine, with a pumped-up, swirling, funky tech-house version that will have peeps losing their heads.

Bodie's Get Hot | | On its own Get Hot will have you grooving, but this release also comes packaged with an incredible remix from Toronto’s Alister Johnson. Bodie has been a bastien of Boise, Idaho’s dance music scene since the early ‘90s, and the culmination of those years of musical experience resinate in Get Hot. Alister Johnson is a beat-master, having risen to household prominence with his remix of Feist at just 21-years-old. The original is a slick, stripped-down, and funky cosmic disco joint, that draws from influences spanning the last few decades. Taking the track into uncharted waters, Alister Johnson’s mix fuses soulful techno with bouncy broken beats, to create a mind funk for heady dance-floors. | | 2008-11-05 12:42:34 | | | Jacques C's debut on PSR | Pawn Shop Records is so excited to release Jacques C's Le Mirano!
Having been a fan of Jacques' music for awhile, it was exciting when he got in touch and started a welcome friendship. His first release on the label is a sure winner, especially for fans of indie/electro/house cross-over music like his, which we find reminiscent of DFA, Lindstrom, Prins Thomas, and Mudd. The remixes here provide some nice variety, so have a listen.
There are more releases from Jacques in the pipeline, so stay tuned! | | 2008-10-03 11:08:35 | | | Support indie, and buy direct from PSR | This is Pawn Shop Records' new download store, where a much larger % of the sales price goes directly to the artists and label.
